The CYANOPROM workshop, lead by Velin of Cyanotype, will introduce us to Cyanotype and the beauty of Prussian blue. It is a light sensitive emulsion which in contact with UV light prints images of objects or photo negatives. The process combines equal doses of magic, science, photography and do-it-yourself design. It is safe, affordable, easy to do and fascinating for all ages.
Cyanotype is one of the first photographic techniques and was invented almost 200 years ago. It can be applied on paper, textiles and wood. Most often it is used for copying blueprints and botanical catalogs. Today this nearly forgotten process is being rediscovered for creative purposes as well as a method of expression in conceptual projects.
The Cyanotype workshop at the festival One Design Week will take place in several stages. The theoretical part will introduce participants to the history of photographic equipment and the various types of emulsions. In the practical part of the workshop participants will learn about cyanotype exposure as well as blue tinting in other colors. The facilitator of the workshop has promised to reveal his tips and tricks, favorite artists and sources of information. Each participant will receive emulsion and materials so they can experiment after completion of the course.
