Together with Depot Basel – a place for contemporary design in Switzerland – ONE DESIGN WEEK will host Pub(lic) Quiz*. The event will be moderated by Matylda Krzykowski – designer and curator, co-founder and co-director of Depot Basel.

Pub quiz is a new format of Depot Basel. The first issue took place at the Open Forum Night of the Forum for an Attitude in December 2015. With this format, Depot Basel intends to engage people for all ages, interests and professions in an informal atmosphere that predisposes to a conversation about design and the impact it has on culture and society.

Pub(lic) Quiz is a parlour game not only about design. Find the answers that you never have been looking for to questions that you would never have asked; surprise with the abilities that you never applied before. The competition will be in teams, where the best one will be awarded with special prizes by Depot Basel.

In June 2012, Depot Basel was launched as temporary place for contemporary design. Today the organisation is directed by Matylda Krzykowski and Rebekka Kiesewetter with the support of partners and helpers, designers and non-designers. All participants share a belief in the importance and urgency of the theoretical and practical engagement with design and its presentation, mediation and promotion as a topic relevant to society.

* Pub: 1859, slang shortening of public house (see public (adj.)), which originally meant “any building open to the public.”
