Almost

Almost is a new brand of Bulgarian furniture with a distinctly well executed design. The company was started in Sofia in 2014 by Svetoslav Mirchev, Stefan Minkoff, and Hristo Stankushev, who are also known as the architects behind the dontDIY collective. The marketing manager Raya Kolchakova joined them shortly after. The team successfully refines the perception of simple wooden objects and converts them for mass production.

Almost became a part of their work when, in addition to deigning interiors and buildings, dontDIY started to devote a lot of time to the creation of custom made furniture. In 2013, they presented some of their creations at international events (the Sparks exhibition – Sofia Design Week 2013 and the Ghost Project Exhibition –  Mikser 2013, where it won a special award), and the positive reaction motivated them to continue forward. The team has devoted the last two years to researching ways of mass producing their stylish, finely detailed, and impeccably finished furniture.

The exhibition will show Almost’s debut collection, which consists of a few main pieces – a chair with armrests in several colors, a desk table or dinner table, a low coffee-table, a shelf on wheels, and modulated wall shelves. They combine clever and detail oriented design with quality manufacturing. These are objects that inspire a sentimental attachment, are to be used pleasurably, and can become a functional highlight of the interior. They also age slowly and gracefully.
