ONE DESIGN WEEK 2016 presents in an exhibition the work of five designers from the Visegrád Group countries – Lenka Srsnova (Slovakia), Studio Nomad (Hungary), Martyna Golik (Poland), Pavla Nesverova(Czech Republic), and Klara Sumova (Czech Republic). The represented works are a result of a workshop with the participation of all designers in Plovdiv last April.
The festival offers the authors the possibility to recreate their own culture, traditions, customs, and identities through Bulgarian formats and techniques. The project centers on the unique point of view of the authors, who revisit and challenge the concept of local identity, through their collaboration with each other and the context of Bulgarian culture.
Тhe designers present some common tendencies from their region, and then transform into the authors of a shared narrative, which revises concepts such as identity, tradition, community, nation, etc., with the aim of giving them a new meaning. In this project, the designers experiment with traditional Bulgarian textile technique in collaboration with a local factory, which in turn creates a product inspired by their ideas.
The project Mixed Identities has been realized with the kind support of the International Visegrád Fund.
