As a part of his thesis at the Design Academy in Eindhoven, the young designer Pieter Jan Pieters designed innovative and unusual instruments, which enable everyone to create music through their body’s rhythm. The electric devices are equipped with sensors, which transform instinctive movements and even natural functions such as heartbeat into melodies and sound.

Pieter Jan Pieters continues the project in his design studio OWOW. During the festival they will perform a downtown demonstration of the entertaining and intuitive instruments in collaboration with the audio-visual artists from the Plovdiv based collective Melformator. With this, the passersby will have the opportunity to become part of the live music performance.

OWOW’s instruments are an inspiration for everyone to try to create digital music in a fun and engaging way. Their creations function as MIDI controllers and are connected to the popular music software. Adopted by both practicing musicians and self-taught amateurs, the OWOW series for creating sound have become a worldwide sensation.
