The group Pink Yellow Me (PYM) calls for a different perspective and invites the audience to take a new, fresh look on the familiar urban surroundings. During ONE DESIGN WEEK 2016 they will transform one of the most popular places in Plovdiv “Buttons” on the main street in the city with a range of various designs that are woven with different colored yarn. They will weave yarn around 112 round plastic seats, transforming them into unusual and beautiful colored spots. In this way PYM breathes new life into them and provokes passers-by to think about change, the meaning of design and the effect of transformation. The woven packages are attached to the circular seats with the help of a rubber band around the perimeter. Each morning during the festival, PYM will document the state of intervention in the urban space.
Photo documentation of the process, the destruction or removal of the woven pieces by the citizens will symbolically show the extent to which people appreciate and protect their environment.
